Canon EOS 450D
The 450D sports a huge 3-inch LCD display, 12.2 megapixels, and a blisteringly fast DIGIC III image-processing chip. 14-bit analog-to-digital processing means smoother contrast gradations than ever, especially for RAW shots.
With this much goodness in such a tidy-looking package, why would you even bother with its bigger brethren? The 450D’s plastic enclosure is solid enough, but not as bullet-proof tough as the pro models. With use some usability problems turn up, such as the directional buttons included instead of the common thumb wheel on the back of the camera. A choice that is fine for menu navigation or leisurely photo browsing can be unhelpful for adjusting aperture in a hurry. Also, like all DSLRs under $1000, no full frame sensor here.
Overall, the XSi packs tremendous value that amateurs should consider for their primary camera and that pros might consider as backup kit.

The 450D’s combination of new features adds-up to a highly desirable DSLR which we can Highly Recommend without hesitation
Though it’ll set you back a few quid more than competitors such as the Sony Alpha DSLR-A200 or the Nikon D60, the Canon EOS 450D will deliver slightly better performance and noticeably better photo quality in return, making it a worthwhile trade-off.
We think that if you’re new to digital SLR photography or on a tight(ish) budget, you’ll like this camera.
The EOS 450D is slightly more expensive than the EOS 400D was at launch, and the older model is still being offered as a budget option, so if you don’t need the enhancements offered by the 450D, it’s definitely worth considering a camera that is, after all, only 18 months old.
The number of people moving up to digital SLR cameras has been amazing - but so are the images these cameras can deliver. Even compared to the not-very-old Canon Rebel XTi / 400D, the Canon EOS Rebel XSi / 450D delivers better image quality from a more attractive body with more features…
If you think the 450D is better than a 40D just because it has more megapixels, you’re making a big mistake.
The EOS 450D employs features already proven in Canon’s professional EOS-1 series cameras, including the DIGIC III image processor and a redesigned menu system that enables features such as direct control of Speedlite flash units from the camera LCD
The Digital Rebel XSi is Canon’s latest contestant in the consumer DSLR market. It’s aimed at the new DSLR user, or someone upgrading from an earlier Digital Rebel camera
The Canon EOS 450D is Canon’s fourth entry-level model, launched right after Canon set the world on fire with the EOS 300D that was responsible for a price breakthrough.
Canon is obviously targeting photographers who wish to move into DSLR photography by its choice of SD and SDHC media for its new EOS 450D model.
